If you are planning a thrilling summer time in the mountains, these are the treks you can count on for sure. Trekking is all about the journey, not about the destination. The stupendous views of the meadows and the dense forests make it worth-while.
Pangarchulla Trek
Pangarchulla Trek is one of its kind trails, adorning the Lord Curzon Trail in the Garhwal Himalayas. Situated at an altitude of 14,700 ft the trail is perfect for mountaineering enthusiasts as it requires technical climbing skills. The trail takes you from pilgrims of Himalayas starting from Rishikesh. With ascent, the horizons open up to cliffside villages characterised by terraced farmland and pitched-roof houses, moving on to the lush green meadows surrounded by the signature peaks of Garhwal Himalayas. The trail to Pangarchulla peak culminates to the part of Nanda Devi Sanctuary where you can spot the peaks like Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Hati-Ghori and Barmal among others.
Har Ki Doon Trek
Har Ki Doon is a stairway to heaven that will make you fall for its beauty. If you are the one who wants to explore Ruinsara Tal, this is the trek for you. Har Ki Doon Valley is located at the western flank of the Garhwal Himalayas. This trail takes you through some of the charismatic alpine meadows and pine forests which is a treat to the eyes. Swargarohini – the snow peak, the vision of which dominates this trek bears a legacy of the mythical stairway to heaven. Osla village, which was built by the inhabitants of Saur, is also one of the attractions on this trail. It is a 5000 Year old formation of wooden chambers that are carved elegantly.
Rupin Pass Trek
Rupin Pass located at 15250 ft. starts from Bawta. This is one of the classic treks in India, offering surprises on every step. You will be surprised to see the Rupin river right on the initial days of the trek. The trail takes you from hanging villages and then plunges into the dense pine forests. You enjoy glacial meadows, snow bridges, glacial valleys, snowfields, and the waterfalls.
Gaumukh Tapovan Trek
Gaumukh Trek is a 46 km trek to 14600 ft. in the Greater Himalayas. It lies in the state of Uttarakhand and begins and ends at the pilgrim town of Gangotri. The trail snakes through the Greater Himalayas within the confines of Gangotri National Park. It is a moderate-difficult trek that can be attempted by beginners if you prepare well. The Gangotri glacier expanse is nearly 24 km long and 6 to 8 km wide, beginning from Gaumukh and extending as far as the Chaukhamba massif around Badrinath. This trek is a raging visual thrillfest with rising mountain behemoths such as Bhagirathi Twin Peaks and Mount Meru besides ever-present Mt. Shivling.
Gaumukh Tapovan Trek
Lying at 15,500 ft., Kedartal is one of the most astounding glacial lakes. It is fed by the melting snow of Thalaysagar and Brighupanth Peak. This lake is the best place to witness the magnificence of Huge Peaks from the closest. The mountain peaks like Manda, Bhagirathi, Gangotri, Bhrigupanth, Mt. Meru and Thalaysagar encompass the skyline. This trek is considered difficult due to the presence of a rocky path right from Day 1. The path is steep, filled with scree, dust and boulders. The trek is equally rewarding and goes through vibrant blossoms, lush meadows with streams crossing over Kedar Ganga.
