Your Har Ki Dun trek starts with a long but beautiful drive from Dehradun to Sankri. Report at Prince Chowk, Dehradun by 6:00 AM (if you’ve booked transportation through Mountain Vibes).
The 220-km drive passes through Mussoorie – the “Queen of the Hills” – and Kempty Falls before entering the Uttarkashi district. En route, you’ll cross Naugaon, Purola, Mori, and Netwar. Once you leave Mussoorie, pine forests replace the deep gorges, and the cool scent of pinewood fills the air.
You’ll stop en route for lunch at a local eatery. The last stretch passes through the Govind National Park checkpoint, with scenic valleys and the Tons River flowing alongside. Arrive in Sankri around 6 PM. The village serves as a base camp for several treks and offers mesmerizing views of Mt. Swargarohini.
After checking into your guesthouse, explore the small market for any last-minute gear or snacks before dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, drive from Sankri to Dhatmeer, the last motorable point. The scenic ride through pine-covered valleys takes about 1.5–2 hours. From Dhatmeer, begin your trek to Osla village.
The well-defined trail ascends gradually through forests of cedar and pine. En route, you’ll pass the picturesque Gangar village with its traditional wooden homes. The route opens up to panoramic views of Mt. Bandarpoonch and the Swargarohini peaks.
Osla is a historic village known for its wooden temples dedicated to Duryodhan and Lord Someshwar. Experience authentic Himalayan hospitality with a stay in a cozy homestay. In the evening, stroll through the village lanes and enjoy dinner with the locals.

Today’s trail from Gui to Chilapada is short and gentle, taking around 2–3 hours. The forest starts to thin out, revealing open spaces and closer views of the high Himalayan peaks like Jaonli, Gangotri I, II, III, and Srikanth.
Once at the campsite, you’ll be served a hot lunch. The Chilapada campsite lies amidst oak and maple trees and offers excellent photo opportunities. Evening tea followed by a light walk helps in acclimatization. After dinner, unwind under a glittering night sky before resting in your tents.

Today is the summit day, taking you to the breathtaking Har Ki Dun Valley, also known as the “Valley of Gods.”
The trail involves moderate to steep ascents and winds through alpine meadows dotted with colorful blooms in summer or soft snow in winter. Upon reaching the valley, you’re greeted with majestic views of Swargarohini I, Hata Peak, and Black Peak.
A small stone temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Nandi marks the spiritual heart of the valley. Spend time absorbing the silence, taking photos, and enjoying a packed lunch before retracing your route back to Seematra.
End the day with a hearty dinner under a star-lit sky.

Enjoy a peaceful morning and start descending toward Pauni Gharat. The trail follows the Thamsa River, crossing lush forests and small wooden bridges.
You’ll pass the beautiful Seema Bridge, a hanging bridge offering postcard-worthy views of the valley. En route, spot traditional garaats (water mills) and terraced fields showcasing mountain life.
Reach Pauni Gharat by evening and relax at the campsite. Watch the sunset light up the mountains before sharing stories around dinner.

This is your final trekking day. After breakfast, trek down to Dhatmeer, following the oak-lined trail through peaceful forests. The gradual descent offers time to take in your last mountain views.
A vehicle awaits to drive you back to Sankri, where you’ll check into your hotel and celebrate completing the Har Ki Dun trek. Enjoy your final dinner with your trek mates before retiring for the night.

After breakfast, depart early for Dehradun. The return journey retraces the scenic route through pine forests and mountain villages.
Expect to reach Dehradun between 6:30 and 7:30 PM. Meals en route are not included, so plan your stops accordingly.
